a french braid and a tent

my first attempt at a french braid.
My second attempt
These pictures really stink but you get the idea. My Mom can french braid hair like nobody else and I have just never taken the time to learn. Well that's where the internet comes in. My Mom isn't close by so I went to google and just tried it. Obviously not the best but who's first ever is? So now I will be trying this more often, hopefully for church on Sunday.

Grandma Rock sent a package the other day and this little tent was in it. Sofie was the one to claim it first. She has been playing with it every day since then. Well Kyle saw his opportunity for his turn without sister around to take it away.

He is so dang cute.

veggin out (I am really not creative with titles)

We put Kyle up to the table the other day. Here he is eating his dinner with us (and the plate).
Yesterday was my birthday so Nathan took the day off and we went to the fair. I have wanted to go for the last couple of years and can now say that I don't need to go again. It was pretty lame but it was fun to hang out as a family and have fun. Sofie went on a pony ride.
and here is Kyle just being cute.

Sofie's 3rd Birthday

Yesterday was Sofie's 3rd Birthday. Where has the time gone? We started on Sunday making cupcakes (as you probably saw on the previous post). Here we are decorating them. Sofie had a lot of fun putting sprinkles on them. She especially loved telling Dad to "tap tap" the bottle like he was telling her to do.

Finished product.
Had to taste test. I had turned away for a second and she grabbed one. That's o.k. she was going to get one anyways.
Dad thought she needed more sugar so he scrapped the carton and let her have at it.
Yesterday on her actual birthday we went to the zoo. Nathan took the day off and we had tons of fun. We got there soon after if opened and it was gorgeous, not to busy and the weather was perfect.
We went to the bird show and saw lots of neat birds. Nathan was especially impressed with the bald eagle and wasted no time getting a picture with it. Sofie doesn't look so sure. She was able to go down and give a donation. She couldn't stop talking about the pink bird taking the money out of your had. She was really cute imitating the bird.
I am pretty sure that her favorite animal is the giraffe. She talked about them the whole time. She rode the "miracle go round" she wanted the giraffe.
After lunch we finally were able to see them. When we got there we discovered that they was a baby one. She talked about that one quite a lot too.
I took Sofie to the gift shop while Nathan was on a call for school. I thought she would pick a giraffe but she wanted this little monkey. Nathan asked her if she wanted to name him Rafiki like the lion king, she did but I am pretty sure she says Mufiki. Oh well, still cute.

Kyle doing what he does best, smiling. He was great the whole time.
I was a little worried about his nap but he finally zonked out. Although it was right before we went on the train so I strayed back and Nathan and Sofie went.
After the zoo we went to Nathan's work to see his boss. She is so great to us and Sofie loves her. Sofie got a Belle doll and horse and quite a few other things on this trip. Sofie is funny she knows that she can get something from almost anybody at Dad's work. She left with an Ariel necklace too.
After all this she was exhausted. I saw her start to nod off but wouldn't just let go so I told her to close her eyes and lay her head down. That was all it took, she was gone.
We grabbed a bite to eat on the way home then I took Sofie to Wal-Mart and let her pick out some dolls that she could buy with her birthday money from great-grandma Rock. Then we had a couple families over for cupcakes and ice cream. Nothing fancy just sang to her and let the kids jump on the bounce house. I didn't get any pictures of this but she had fun.

Wow what a busy day. We all had a lot of fun and were exhausted last night. Sofie was doing something and Nathan walked by she said to him "thanks for my birthday Dad". She then came and told me the same thing.

We really do love this little girl. She is a sweetheart when she wants to be and and definite pill when she wants to be, but we wouldn't have it any other way. We are so glad she is in our family.

So far this month...

Here are just a couple of things we have been up to so far this month.
Kyle has been pulling himself up on things. He can't crawl or get anywhere but he can do this.

Sofie waiting for her birthday cupcakes to be done. She wanted strawberry cake with vanilla frosting and sprinkles. She will be three tomorrow. I can't believe I have a 3 year old. Where has the time gone?

Some cute pictures of Sofie and Kyle.
I tried to photoshop this picture. Obviously I need more practice but I love the picture.

This little girl moved into our ward a couple of weeks ago. I think her and Sofie could almost be twins. Her name is Kaiya, she and Sofie have kind of a love hate thing going on. We had them over for s'mores as you can see on their faces. We were also at a ward party before this and they had their faces painted as kitty cats.

Kyle's new trick

I was sorting through Kyle's clothes today so I put him in his crib for safe keeping. I looked up at one point and saw this. Oh boy, what's next.
So proud of himself.
