Dear Auntie L...

Summer so far (warning lots of pictures)

Oh, where to start. Last week the kids and I went to Denver to spend the week with Grandma and Grandpa Rock. I wasn't sure how it was going to go but it went o.k. Sofie didn't ask for Dad at all even when she woke up at 4:30 one morning throwing up and continued all day. Boy was I grateful that I was with someone who could help me take care of both monkeys that day. I didn't get many pictures from the trip because we were pretty much sick the whole time, but here are a few of the ones that I did take.
This was on the way to Denver.
Kyle started to sit up while we were there. He is getting to be so big.
We were able to travel back with Ken and LaDawn after they came to help Chris and Alyssa move into their new home. Here is a picture of their new little one. He is lying in Sofie's car seat where her thigh fits. He is a little peanut, I almost threw him to the ceiling when I first picked him up.
Our neighbor has this little dog and Sofie loves him. His name is squirt and she prays for him almost every night in her prayers. This is as big as he will get and he almost makes me want a dog, almost.
I bought a pool the other day and filled it up for Sofie. I was only going to fill it up and let it warm up for the next day but she wanted to get in so I let her. As you can see she wasn't in her suit but hey it washes right. This is a dress that Gran D made for her quite a while ago but she still insists on wearing it.
This is what happens after you have been in a freezing cold pool and won't get out. You have to come in and wrap up in sweats and two blankets to get warm. Her feet and hands were icicles.
On Saturday Nathan worked in the yard for the morning and Sofie helped. She was wearing underpants this day to see how it would go. Lets just say she was in diapers again today. She absolutly does not care if she gets out of diapers or not. I don't get it.
Then she was able to play in the pool again.
This was Nathan taking a break. I love these pictures of these two.

After we were all cleaned up we had a bonfire and smores. It sure was a full and fun day.

Not so long ago...

She could barely walk or talk and she had no hair. Where has the time gone?

Now she runs everywhere. Loves singing all day long, especially her own made up songs, and just basically won't be quiet. I was looking through pictures and realized, again, that my baby is gone and a very independent, smart, funny and most of the time loving little girl has taken her place. When did this happen? Now we have another little one that is doing the same thing. Why does this have to happen so fast. I was looking at pics of Kyle when he was first born and realized yet again that the little baby stage is almost over. WHY???

This is the new cousin Alex. Look at the size difference in those legs.

I thought these pictures were so cute. Just don't ask me how I got them, I won't tell you. =)

We went to the Zoo when my Sister was here a while ago and forgot about these pictures. Sofie had a blast and it was fun to be out of the house.

This one's for you John Paul

We got a call from John Paul the other day asking if our computer had a virus becuase we hadn't posted in a while. No we don't have a virus just two kids and a crazy life (and sometimes no desire to post, oh yeah and Facebook came along too.) So here you go.

Kyle has recently started rolling over. The other night he went from back to front twice and then today he went the other way. He is getting so old already and is the most smiley baby ever. He is hardly ever mad but when he is you know it. He is still a great sleeper unlike his sister. We have been taking him outside more often lately and he loves it, if he is in a bad mode we'll head out and he calms right down. He has been able to hold himself up to things lately, of course with me right behind but his grip is incredible and he loves to hold himself up and chew on whatever he is holding on to. We sure do love this little guy.
Sofie is still very much a princess and she will let you know. She has her princess shoes on at all times from when she wakes up to when we have to pull them off for bed time. She is very much a challenge lately, she has no desire to listen and will stare you down when she does not want to do what is asked of her. She loves being outside and would be out there all day if we let her. I let her play on the porch the other day while I was inside doing things (I know I am getting brave), She was told to stay on the porch, she didn't listen and I found her in the neighbors garage. She was rather mad when she had to come inside for not listening. Even with all the challenges (like potty training) we still love her very much, most of the time when she is getting in trouble it's all I can do to not laugh at her. She has the funniest expressions and says the funniest things. The other day I handed her a cookie she said Mom, I'm a lucky duck. She is so adorable and loves to sing all day long, she is always making up songs and singing them to Kyle.
I let Sofie wear my pearls and a bracelet to church last Sunday, she thought she was the neatest thing ever. Of course we agree with that.
Here are some pictures of the two of them together.
Sofie was reading the scriptures to Kyle and was singing him songs this day.
