Having fun

Sofie was playing with the clothes hamper the other day and decided to crawl in. She got the best of it in the end. As you can see it was time to do laundry, we were running low on clothes. Just kidding. Somehow she got away without clothes on.

What's in a name?

I have decided to blog about why we spelled Sofie's name the way we did. I have had a lot of people ask me why we spelled it this way. Nathan last night said "yeah why did we do that?" When I was pregnant with Sofie Nathan and I could not choose a girl name, boys names were no problem but girls were a different story. I was reading on a baby site (i am not sure which one) where you type in a name and they give you the meaning and spelling and also people's comments about the name. A couple people had written that when they were little other kids would call them soapy instead of Sofie. So to save her from that we spelled it differently. Well guess what she still gets called soapy. These kids can't read so it must just be the way it comes out of their mouth. and I have to admit I have said it a couple time too, it just comes out wrong. Although it is cute when they call her soapy I just hope that it won't scar her for life, but having to spell it all through school might. So that is why.

Also our neighbor called last night and asked if I would watch her son every other Friday for a couple of hours in the morning. I said yes and He came over today. He is really good with Sofie, puts up with her taking things from him constantly and very gentle with her so I think it might go well. Here is a picture of the two of them together.

First steps

Sofie took her first steps today. She was trying to get something from me and took one little step and then later in the day she took a very timid step between the couch and the coffee table. She is getting so bit so fast, it is just amazing. Here are some pictures enjoying corn and just a couple other cute ones.

Sofie's 1st birthday!

Sofie turned one year old on Friday Aug 17th. We had a birthday party on Saturday and had a ton of fun. She received great gifts from family and friends. She had some fun with the cake but was getting tired and ready for a nap at that time so she wasn't super thrilled with the idea. Grandpa and Grandma Clark and Aunt Laura were able to come out. We missed Grandpa and Grandma Rock and Aunt Sarah and Auntie Em, Maybe next year. She also had her first taste of ice cream. She didn't like it at first but then sort of got into it. (pic with mouth wide open).

Uh-Oh

Sofie's new thing is Uh-Oh and as you can see she has to put her hands in front of her face while saying it. The other day in church she threw her book on the floor and said uh-oh, the lady sitting next to us said what do you mean uh-oh you threw it. The silver ball in the picture is one of her many treasures from vacation. She likes them a lot.

Vacation

O.K. obviously we haven't posted anything in a very long time. We have been on vacation for the last three weeks. We had lots of fun but it is great to be back home and in our own bed. We had such a full vacation and took so many pictures that I am overwhelmed with all the them. I was sitting here looking at them and realized just how many there were. So I will be going through them and posting over the next couple days. Sofie learned so much while we were gone. She is now crawling the "right" way, she learned the signs for bird and more, she can do "touchdown" (Nathan has been working on that since she was born and he is rather proud of himself for it.) She is pulling herself all the way up on things and starting to walk around things. She also went on the plane for the first time and in the three weeks she was on one four times. She did really well and was never the loudest baby on the plane which made us happy. We went to the zoo in Minnesota and Denver we went to the butterfly pavilion in Denver, we were able to go back to Nauvoo where we were married. We haven't been back since then. We saw a Great-Grandma and Cousins, and Aunts and Uncles, and old friends and of course Grandmas and Grandpas. I am sure that there is a lot more that I am forgetting so if I have forgotten anything or anyone I am sorry but I am sure I will realize it while going through pictures so hang tight and it should come up in a couple of days.
